Marshall Howard Jr.

Marshall Rhyne (Jack) Howard Jr., 45-year-old resident of Mooresville, route 1, died Monday, Jan. 10, at University Hospital in Charlotte following a period of declining health.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Mooresville, with Mr. Russell A. Smith officiating. Burial was in Triplett United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Iredell County on March 22, 1948, Mr. Howard was a son Marshall Rhyne Howard and Cecilia Holloman Howard of Mooresville.

Mr. Howard, who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he was a chemist major. For several years, he was in the doctorate program at the University of Michigan where he taught chemistry. At the time of his death, he was self-employed as a cabinet maker.

Surviving are: one son, Ezra Howard of Grand Junction, Colo., and one daughter, Jemimah Howard of Grand Junction, Colo.; three brothers, Jon Howard of Statesville, Phillip Howard of Metairie, La., and Eric Howard of Mooresville; and one sister, Mrs. Marsha Cornelius of Mooresville.
